Sangeet Millennium’s Austin Chronicle Vote Request

January 2012

Esteemed friends of Amie & Sangeet Millennium,

Thanks to YOUR support, the Sangeet Millennium Ensemble was voted as one of the Top Ten World Music Bands in Austin last year. We would like to ask for your support to make it happen again this year. These Top Ten finishes help us get selected for showcases, gain funding support, and offer additional performances to YOU!

VOTING in the Austin Chronicle’s annual Music Poll is easy and will take only a couple of minutes. To vote, please visit austinchronicle.com/ musicpoll and select Sangeet Millennium under Best Performing Bands, especially in the World Music category.

In addition to Best Performing Band/World Music, here are some other categories where we would love to have your vote.

Under BEST IN AUSTIN:

  • World Music Band –Sangeet Millennium
  • Austin Band of the Year -  Sangeet Millennium
  • Austin Musician of the Year – one of us: Amie Maciszewski, Paul Klemperer, Shiv Naimpally

Instrumental Band and Experimental Band are other potential spots to show your support for Amie & Sangeet Millennium.

Under BEST AUSTIN MUSICIANS

  • String Player – Amie Maciszewski (sitar), also
  • Miscellaneous Instrument – Amie Maciszewski (sitar – because it’s less common than other strings like guitar, violin, etc. )
  • Percussion Player – Shiv Naimpally (tabla), Jakes Srinivasan (world percussion)
  • Horn Player – Paul Klemperer (saxophones)
  • None of the Above – Jakes Srinivasan (world music percussionist/dj)

Another suggestion for an experimental/jazz band/world music band is Paul Klemperer’s My Exotic Other (in which each of us takes turns gracing the stage from time to time, along with numerous other fine musicians).

Please remember that the deadline to submit your vote is Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, so go vote! Gratitude once again to everyone for your support, and thanks in advance for your vote!
