Experience the shimmering sounds of the 100-string hammered dulcimer of India, santoor, played by a master. Grammy nominee Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya, just named Top Grade Artist on All-India Radio, will do his magic in the intimate setting of Dan Benkman’s Serena Studio. With Sangeet Millennium Ensemble.

2:00-4:00 p.m. – Workshop on abhinaya, interpretive movement. Suitable for dancers, actors, yogis, and music and dance lovers of all levels and ages. Ms. Bhattacharya has taught this workshop across North America, the UK, and India.
4:00- 5:00 p.m. – Odissi dance performance with guest artists Sangeet Millennium Ensemble.

Bestowed with the title Shree Kshetra Mahari (meaning Devadasi, or Sacred Temple Dancer–one of the highest honors in Odissi dance) in 2005 from the Jagannath Temple in Puri, Orissa, phenomenal danseuse-choreographer-guru Sanchita Bhattacharya is truly an ambassador of Odissi dance. Lauded for her utter devotion, compelling expression, sculptural gestures, and vigorous, precise footwork, she travels worldwide to represent and share this exquisite Indian Classical dance in prestigious culture forums.
She has presented this workshop at Duke University, University of Colorado, Antioch College, University of Alberta (Canada) ,University of Minnesota, Brown University, and elsewhere.
